We were honored to be invited to the Navy Reserve Spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday 6-2-12. We had worked with the Navy reserves back in December 2011 when we made cakes for their Christmas party. The Navy commander extended an invitation to us to join them for this dinner saying that since it was a fundraiser he did not feel it appropriate to put in a request for sweets. He just wanted us to come out and enjoy ourselves. So Jeanne, Liz, Pam, Terrill, and myself bought tickets and headed to the dinner.
Of course we could not show up without sweets in hand so we surprised them with sugar, chocolate chip, and Orange Creamsicle cookies and brownie bites. They were most excited and so appreciative! We had a very nice time eating spaghetti; spending time with the CMDR as he walked Rene’ through her Grandfather’s WW2 Navy journal–we learned a lot from him including how to navigate at sea using the stars and no electronics–; and laughing and visiting with each other.
It was our honor to serve them! Thank you to our bakers for this event. Ruth, Rita, Jess, Tamara, and Martha,,,,YOU ROCK! — Rene’
